Paradies Lagardère and PeriscapeVR Bring Travelers into a New Realm with Virtual Reality Experience

A first in any airport, new entertainment offering featured in JFKT4

ATLANTA, August 3rd, 2018 – Paradies Lagardère, the travel retail and restaurateur leader in North America, and PeriscapeVR, an innovator in using technology to enhance the traveler experience, have partnered to bring an extraordinary new experience to John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4 (JFKT4). The first Virtual Reality (VR) Experience Center is currently in use by thousands of travelers at one of the world’s busiest airport terminals.

PeriscapeVR is the first-ever permanent, interactive virtual reality center of its kind in an airport. The groundbreaking VR experience center at JFKT4 combines expertise in luxury, retail, original content, and technology, and offers travelers an interactive and blissful escape. PeriscapeVR’s Experience Center in T4’s retail lounge features freestanding VR Towers with 12 stations. Pricing ranges from $1 - $2 per minute and the experiences average approximately five to 10 minutes each. The stations also offer secure compartments for storing luggage and personal items. PeriscapeVR’s experiences are grouped into five content categories: first time, experience, create, play, and cause. Designed by world-class Gensler Architects and powered by Hewlett-Packard, the luxurious space provides travelers with the opportunity to escape within a virtual wonderland.

“Paradies Lagardère has always been committed to delivering the ultimate customer experience in our retail and dining establishments,” said Gregg Paradies, president and CEO. “With technology such as Virtual Reality at our fingertips, we’re excited to expand and enhance the customer experience at airports throughout North America through innovation. “Paradies Lagardère and JFKIAT have been enthusiastic partners in bringing visual entertainment to a worldwide audience. Gerry Savaria, executive vice president at Paradies Lagardère, is a true thought-leader and is always looking for ways to improve the quality of the traveler experience. He’s become a friend and mentor - I could even say he's given me my MBA in airport retail,” said PeriscapeVR Founder and CEO Lynn Rosenthal. “Every day we get tremendous joy seeing travelers of all ages experiencing virtual reality for the first time. Travelers often have hours of dwell time between connections, which can be stressful and dull. Periscape VR Experience Center is focused on taking them on a journey that’s both blissful and fun.”
